Ye shall be my witnesses

Ye shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

This parting message is the most inclusive and most comprehensive one that ever fell from our Savior’s lips. Not only did He disclose die subject of the message and name the field in which it is to be proclaimed, but He also gave to each of us a special part in the voicing of this great proclamation. If every other fragment of the Bible were destroyed, those words spoken by our Lord would be sufficient to reveal to us our duty as His followers. He plainly unveils every Christian’s responsibility to evangelize. Soul-winning is an inherent part of real Christianity. All true believers have an inborn love and passion for witnessing to lost men and women. In fact, it seems to be a natural law of the Christian experience that a person either evangelizes, fossilizes, or apostatizes. Life is a stewardship, not an ownership. It is a trust more than a gift. Wie cannot be counted as faithful stewards if we fail to do our part in reaching the unsaved for our Lord. “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” The value of a soul is priceless and there is no greater joy, no greater honor than to be the instrument in God’s hands leading a soul out of the kingdom of darkness into the glorious light of heaven.

From our youth up most of us were taught to measure a man’s success by what he is able to acquire from the world in wealth, honor and renown. While such teaching is partially correct, the divine measure of the worth of a man’s life is not what he amasses from the world, but what he gives to it{ Devoted service to our generation is the embodiment of success. Someone once wrote, “To shrink from coming in defense of the oppressed is as bad as any crime.” “I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.” We all have been commissioned to deliver this gospel message wherever men, women and children live, move and have their being. The gospel is good tidings of salvation to all men and remains the same through all ages. Its purpose is to set right a world gone wrong, and that purpose continues through the centuries without change.

Rooted in the faith and power that have brought us this far, let us continue with enthusiasm and much diligence this great work for God. Let us redeem the time and seize even’ opportunity for a new upsurge of accomplishment. Come, see, go, tell: this is the gospel order.

Rise up, O men of God, give heart and soul and strength to bring souls to Christ Lay down your life, so others can be saved. This is die greatest love one could possibly bestow upon lost mankind.
